explosive gas ( explosive range of acetylene gas in
the air is 2.3%-81%.)
Applications:
Calcium carbide is mainly used industrially in the production
of acetylene and calcium
cyanamide. It is also used in steelmaking. In the ripening
of fruit, it is used as source
of acetylene gas, which is a ripening agent.
