Gentamicin sulfate is a water-soluble antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group, it is widely used in the treatment of severe infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus, Klebsiella, Enterobacter, Serratia, Citrobacter and Staphylococcus. Infections include bacterial neonatal sepsis, bacterial septicemia, and infections of the skin, bone, soft tissue (including burns), urinary tract, GI tract (including peritonitis), and CNS (including meningitis).
