Sulfaguanidine is a low-grade sulfa drug, it is mainly used to produce sulfadiazine, sulfamethazine and other high-grade sulfa drugs. Sulfaguanidine can inhibit the bacteria, and used as an intestinal antibacterial proposed for treatment of bacillary dysentery and for sterilization of the colon prior to gastrointestinal tract surgery.
